This was written for the 10.30 service at Tilehurst Methodist Church on July 20th 2008. It was a local arrangement service focusing on artistic gifts given to the congregation. Being the awkward person I am, I wanted to expand the theme somewhat to consider the other gifts from God.
1. God has always richly blessed his people,
Look around and marvel at his work:
Artists, poets, musicians and sculptors,
Gifts of speech, of thought, word and deed.
In what service? In what service? In what service?
God, the source, to glorify.
2. In the fruits of God's great harvest,
Other talents play their part.
Those who can listen; wait with patience;
Care and heal, and put their neighbour first.
Oh, how blessed! Oh, how blessed! Oh, how blessed!
See Jesus' hands among us now.
3. All of creation displays God's glory,
Mountain to mouse, and atom to star.
Laws of nature, mysteries concealing;
Science so rich for man to explore.
Power and beauty! Power and beauty! Power and beauty!
God revealed in life itself.
4. Greater than all of these, God's presence among us:
Father, Son and Spirit combined.
Gift of gifts, beyond all reckoning;
Source, and friend, and life within.
We adore you! We adore you! We adore you!
Bountiful God, we praise your name!
